About Erbil Sport Club: Sports and Teams

Erbil Sport Club is a multi-sport club based in Erbil, Iraq. Its archived website presented it as one of the successful sports clubs in the country, with teams in six sports. This page is an informational profile built from that archive. It is not an official statement from the club.

The six sports

The old site listed football (soccer), volleyball, handball, cycling, weightlifting and athletics. Each sport had its own menu, and the site was published in Kurdish, English and Arabic.

Teams by age and level

  • Football: first team, second team, and age groups under 18, 16 and 14.
  • Volleyball: first team and a youth team.
  • Handball: first team and a youth team.
  • Cycling: first team, a youth team and an under-16 team.
  • Weightlifting: first team, a youth team and an under-16 team.
  • Athletics: a women’s team.

Splitting players by age is common in sport because it lets younger athletes train and compete at a level that suits their development, while the first team represents the club at the highest level.

Other sections of the old site

Beyond the teams, the menu mentioned news, a photo gallery, videos, an archive and a mixed section. Their content has not survived in the archive, so this site does not describe match results or players.
